In Heading for the Storm, a disaster actually happens from the very beginning as 4 teenagers, on a boat, discover that the 5th member of their gang has been killed.
Then the author takes us inside a group of 4 close friends aged 18 who live in a small village in Brittany and for whom the sea is a playground. Their leader Clarence, is a charismatic teenager whose motto is “Be different, be better than the others”. One day, he introduces his stepbrother Victor to the gang. Victor will be the one to open the eyes of the others on the harmful grasp of Clarence.
When they all decide to reach Ireland by sea, the confined space of the sailboat intensifies the tension and resentment... until Clarence dies. To make things even worse, a storm is coming right on to them. So they will have to bring out their best to stay alive... and to remain friends, which eventually means not being charged with murder...
