The Island

Vincent Villeminot

An island off the coast of La Rochelle, fires that multiply on the continent, rumours that the Apocalypse has come... And fear and madness quickly spread among the inhabitants.

Jolan, his sister and their friends live on an island. They are all fifteen. One day, a catastrophe, which origins remain unknown, happen on the continent. A toxic cloud coming from Germany? A war? But the consequences are soon explained by refugees: everyone there have become mad, to the
point of killing each other. The island is now cut off from the rest of the world to ensure the safety of its inhabitants. But hasn't Evil already penetrated the island? The gang still play games in the fort, and live their adolescent lives. But little by little, conflicts arise between the inhabitants, which won't spare the group of friends...

- Every day at 6pm, for the duration of lockdown, readers were invited to discover a new episode of The Island. A digital pre-publication before the novel, planned for spring 2021.
- The Island, that is 4 million pages viewed, 15,000 downloads of the complete manuscript, and many more "real"readings for sure, as the text has been used extensively by teachers and librarians to feed the reading time of their teenagers, as shown by the many moving feedbacks.

Vincent Villeminot graduated from a journalism school and the Paris Institute of Political Studies. He is the author of around fifteen books dedicated
to children and young adults that are very specific as they combine humor and sensitivity and are explaining things.
