A Little Magic for Christmas

Carène Ponte

The new Christmas comedy by Carène Ponte!

Victoria Delmas, thirty-five, runs her advertising agency with an iron fist. Raised by a father for whom professional accomplishment is a priority, she puts work before human relationships, which she considers a waste of time. One morning in December, Victoria's life is turned upside down. She is hit by a bus, falls into a coma and ends up in a rehabilitation center. This mysterious organization offers her a deal: in order to be given a second chance, she must make amends with someone she has hurt in the past, and this before midnight on December 26. So she finds Dakota, a childhood acquaintance with whom she has not been kind. Dakota and her brother lost their parents at a very young age, and were raised by their loving grandparents. Today, Dakota still lives with her grandmother and is a radio host. Victoria must share their daily lives and take part in family traditions that are different from her own: matching pyjamas, Santa Claus shaped cookies and hot chocolate. This is enough to shake up her vision of family and Christmas Eve, which is limited to a dinner swallowed before 9pm and gifts bought by assistants, given in a hurry. But Victoria will have to adapt. And if there is one time of the year when we can hope for a miracle, it is at Christmas!

- A few scenes of comedy, but above all, the confrontation of two families on their conception of Christmas, family relationships, and life in general.
- We find in the novel Carene Ponte's trademark: footnotes addressed directly to the readers, and the promise to discover her facetious and humorous character!

With nine novels, Carène Ponte has won over 300,000 readers with her light-hearted and humorous stories. In each book, she imagines universal moving characters with her modern, joyful and rhythmic style. After The Light Was So Perfect, published by Fleuve Éditions, here is her new Christmas comedy. All her previous titles are published by Pocket.
