Paris, at the end of the 19th Century. Victor Legris is in his 30's and works as a bookseller. He regularly finds himself confronted with mysteries and that's good luck because he loves acting as a detective.

October 1899. For the astronomers, there is no doubt possible: the end of the world is coming. While this prediciton is on everyone's mind, a body surrounded by strange objects is found in the Clock's Close. The first murder of a long list and Victor Legris has only a few days to find out the murderer...

Claude Izner is the pen name of two sisters, Liliane Korb and Laurence Lefèvre, who are both second-hand booksellers along the Seine.
