Paris, at the end of the 19th Century. Victor Legris is in his 30's and works as a bookseller. He regularly finds himself confronted with mysteries and that's good luck because he loves acting as a detective.

Kenji Mori's place has just been burgled. The robbers have only stolen an exotic bowl without any value. The bookseller sleuth will soon discover that everyone wants a piece of this object.

Claude Izner is the pen name of two sisters, Liliane Korb and Laurence Lefèvre, who are both second-hand booksellers along the Seine.
